Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge is the only hotel located at the entrance of Machu Picchu citadel - the check point is located at 50 meters from the hotel. The convenience to be so near to the citadel allows guests to enjoy the archeological site in an unparalleled way. As a resident at the site, guests are among the few visitors able to enjoy early mornings and late afternoons inside the Machu Picchu Archaeological site. All other visitors must either hike in to the site or travel a lengthy journey by bus from nearby Aguas Calientes. A stay at the Lodge is truly a once in a lifetime experience available to only a select few people. Guests at the lodge are offered full board with their room rate, inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner in the lodges restaurant. Room service is also available for an additional fee. Facilities include a bar, boutique and gift shop. Basic business services are available, as is Internet access. Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge features 29 well-appointed rooms and two suites. Constructed in 1953 and under strict governmental environmental regulations for several years, rooms and suites are less spacious than traditional hotels - no changes being permitted. All rooms are cosy and comfortable. A complete renovation was done in 2001. Some of the most requested rooms are those that overlook the Beautiful tropical mountains in front of the hotel. Room amenities include private bath, minibar, and safe, satellite TV with CNN, IDD phone and video player. A video library is available complimentary to guests.
